ARC: Reflective Listening

The goal of reflective listening is to make the speaker feel heard, understood, and valued so that they feel safe enough to share more with you. It’s being “others-centered,” instead of focusing on ourselves. When we listen and respond to people in this way, we’re following Jesus’ example of loving and serving our neighbor, who is the person right in front of us!

A simple acronym - ARC (Attend - Reflect - Clarify) - can help us remember how to practice reflective listening in our conversations. Download the free resource below to learn some ways to become a better reflective listener.
