Responding to Someone’s Story
When a person shares something personal with us, the type of response we offer has a significant impact on how heard or understood the person feels. It also helps determine whether or not the person will feel safe enough to share more. This means that responding well is a big responsibility. Take some time to consider which of the following types of response you use most. When you are the one sharing something difficult, which do you want to receive? As you respond to others whom you are discipling or leading, be intentional about making your first response a "Reflective" response.
