ACTS Prayer Model
The ACTS prayer model guides us to focus on God's character and deeds before making personal requests. It begins with Adoration, where we praise and worship God, acknowledging His names, characteristics, and roles. Adoring God involves heartfelt praise for His mighty power, wisdom, faithfulness, and love, as revealed in scripture and through His actions in our lives.
Confession follows adoration, where we recognize our sins in light of God's holiness. Acknowledging who God is naturally leads us to confess our wrongdoings, seeking His forgiveness and guidance to cultivate good fruit in our lives. Scriptures such as Psalm 51 and 1 John 1 emphasize the importance of confession and repentance, helping us to remove any barriers between us and God.
Thanksgiving is the next step, where we express gratitude for God's blessings, including salvation, faithfulness, provision, and protection. Reflecting on His past deeds and ongoing faithfulness, we thank Him for His many gifts and the abundant life we have through Christ. Scriptures like 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 and Philippians 4:6-7 remind us to maintain a thankful heart in all circumstances.
Finally, Supplication involves presenting our personal needs and the needs of others to God. Through supplication, we seek God's divine help, guidance, and intervention in various aspects of our lives, aligning our requests with His will and submitting to His sovereignty. Scriptures such as Philippians 4:6 and 1 Timothy 2:1-4 encourage us to make our requests known to God, trusting in His provision and care for us.
